Considerations on Sliding Locks

A lot of homes and offices as well as commercial outlets use sliding doors and locks. Sliding glass doors are common in many estate homes which want to project an open environment where space is seen to be larger than it is confined by doors; hence, the environment seems more spacious when one opens the doors.

But there must be sufficient security with sliding doors especially with glass doors. Good quality sliding locks must be fitted on sliding doors to ensure a fool-proof security for the occupants' safety and comfort.

Options

Many options of sliding locks are available in today's market for sliding doors regardless of the type. A glass sliding door needs the right lock just as much as the wooden or iron door. Good locks ensure sufficient protection against intruders. Glass sliding doors can be a lovely aesthetic option to the home or environment such as office or commercial outlet with hardy and durable tampered glass but without a quality lock, intruders can access the premise easily with a simple picking of the lock with the skills and techniques as well as tools in the market.

There is a myriad of sliding locks that are suitable for sliding doors; one of which is the bottom installed lock. It is a strong favorite in sliding lock options as consumers like to keep the aestheticism of the door without an obvious attention to the lock at the top or center portion of the door.

A bottom installed lock on a sliding door is quite an effective lock as it is quite hard to pick the lock from the inside or outside as there is very little space to maneuver the picking of the lock with the floor close to the lock; hence, picking the lock on the bottom end of the door is difficult which is a good deterrent to break-ins.

Aesthetics

Another preferred sliding lock is the one placed at the top portion of the sliding glass door. Similar in concept to the bottom positioned lock, the top end lock is usually harder for intruders to pick comfortably. This lock can be hidden away nicely at a corner with the curtains covering it without bringing any attention to its existence.

Although the top lock is effective against intruders, the current designs are not as aesthetically pleasing. More technology must be applied to generate better looking locks that would draw consumers to make a purchase.
